Holiday ticket guide: when to buy and how to save

Holiday ticket guide: when to buy and how to save

Tickets sell out quickly at holidays. With correct timing, flexible dates and campaign use, savings of up to 20% are possible.

During the Eid holidays demand for intercity coaches rises two and a half to three times compared with a normal period. Tickets go on sale three to four weeks before the holiday and the most popular days (the eve and the first working day after) can sell out within ten days. In this guide we summarise methods that raise your chance of getting a seat and reduce cost.

1. Buy on the day sales open

The sales date is announced on our website and in app notifications. On tickets bought on the first day there is the widest seat choice; single seats and recliners are the first to fill.

2. Be flexible with dates

Leaving a day before the eve, or taking the return on the morning after the last day of the holiday, makes a significant difference in both fare and occupancy. Night and early-morning services can be 10–15% cheaper than afternoon departures.

3. Buy a round-trip ticket

You gain a 12% discount on the return ticket and also guarantee your return seat. Because return days after the holiday are very busy it makes sense to plan outbound and return together.

4. Check the campaigns

  • Early booking (20%): valid on non-holiday services bought 14 days before departure
  • Student (15%) and 65+ (20%): applied with limited quota during holiday periods
  • Group (18–25%): for families or friend groups of ten
  • App-only first ticket (10%): for new members

5. Alternative lines and transfers

On lines where the direct service is full, consider an itinerary with a transfer. For example someone going to Trabzon may find an earlier service via a Samsun transfer. Our call-centre team suggests the best transfer plan.

6. Plan for ticket changes

During holidays ticket refund and change terms tighten: 80% is refunded up to 24 hours before departure. If you are not sure of your plans consider the flexible-date open-ticket option.

Travelling on holiday day

On holiday day terminals are two to three times busier; if possible book early-morning or late-night services. Arrive at the terminal at least 45 minutes before departure, label your luggage with your name and phone number, and keep your PNR number ready on your phone.
